Is it a requirement to change the coil when converting 12SI delco alternator to a PMA?
Is it a requirement to use the little springs and bushes out of the alternator?

Remember this is for the wind blue alternator rotor.

You need to completly strip the alternator excect for the stator and recifier, then insert your wind blue core

infringer

I have done this but the stator in the alternator is too tight to fit the rotor from windblue it is a 12 SI you can easily tell by the scratching on the sides of the unit that the stator coil is rubbing on the rotor from wind blue....

I would assume that you need to pay another 70 plus dollars for the coil to get the thing to work what a pain in the you know what they should tell you these things!

I am not happy at all with windblue not impressed I could have better spent my money at magnet4less.com and friggin made my own PMG!

Very disappointing ...

its a common problem , I produce pmas and sell them on ebay and your only option is to grind the rotor down a little or use a dremmel tool on the stator, i usually do this before I press the magnet in if not all the filings stick to the magnet. You should also look at getting a higher voltage wound stator you will be dissappointed to see you only get 12 volt around 2000 rpm with that factory stator.
hope this helps a little.

infringer

hrmmm this is turning into quite the money pit well what is the highest voltage wound stator that is available and will work for the windblue and the delco 12si the stator is the 140amp errr I should just keep the thing and throw it in my transam...

I guess all this crud is new to me but I'm thinking I'd be better off just making my own stuff its possible to obtain better output from axial flux in my reading but that has not been proven from my personal finding...

I thank you for the help ...

I am also trying to come up with a design for a VAWT or vertical axis wind turbine.
