I checked them out and gave them 10 whole minutes.  I have been qualifying companies for about 20 years now!  lol

They look like a small company with a niche product, perhaps eight employees or less.  They can "spot weld" magnetic patterns into blanks to do some unique stuff.

They got a DoD R&D contract last year for the US Navy.  So they may survive on that a while while they try to hunt down a big customer or big licensing deal.  They dream of the Navy R&D being adopted but there is no guarantee of that and it would take years.  To me it feels like a solution looking for a problem which is tough for a small company.

A big negative is no bricks and mortar address on their web site.  My next step is usually to go to the White Pages or start searching for older articles that might state their address then Google Street View.  Also, nothing really comes up on the generic Google News which is not good.

but that may just be the web site owners address as it doesn't appear to be a business location.   From some of their pictures I saw it looks like their lab is the inside of a large home.

Thank you MarkDansie, looking at their videos, especially the "exploding toy" video its not hard to imagine how this technology could be used to maybe run a PMM

This is a legit magnetics company not related to alternative energy and in that sense the title of this thread is somewhat misleading.  Will the Navy ever switch over to magnetic gearing for the propeller drive train?  I am not getting the warm and fuzzies about that.  I am guessing that the stresses associated with magnetic gearing would cause the metal to undergo a lot of unwanted periodic 'disturbance' stress that might make it fatigue prematurely.  If it ain't broken then don't fix it.

Good find, and it's hard to tell much from the satellite shot.  Of course, not having a location visible from Google Street View is another dent!  lol

Hi Mark,

Really interesting idea of implementing magnetic polarity patterns for dedicated mechanical use.
Could actually be something there for the PMM experimenters, especially if tailorsuiting this technique in combination with the great differential between magnetic attraction and shear force.
Just imagine if one was able to alter the polarity expression by repositioning magnet arrays using a minor force in shear direction.

Will certainly look into it.
