It won't work. It's why becouse when you use gear ratio, speed of mechanism increses for example 5 times but at the same time torque decreses 5 times, so those 5 balls on left won't be able to lift this 1 ball on right side of wheel. I hope you know what I mean. I was thinking about how to improve this wheel and if the wheels on the left side will have greater diameter than this on the right side, torqe of the left wheels will be greater than torque of right wheels, becouse gravity will taking place on longer arm, so machine should work. I hope I writen this quite clearly.
