Magnetostriction test

During one of those unmotivating,  melancholy, bored to tears web searches on magnetostriction (needle in a haystack of needles)
I thought of a simple test. I cannot word the search term correctly or it simply isn,t "out there", so for the sake of "no more wasted time on the web"
I.ll pose the question here (I would do the test myself but I don,t have a scope)

The test is, while a standard transformer is hooked up and running a load and a scope is connected to view the wave form,  take an
object, preferably metal and tap the transformer with varying force (I mean literally hitting it) what, if any change to the wave happens?
