some scientists cant Fathom out where our oceans particular type of water came from or how this planet has so much water and where it comes from.
It's simple it was simply a ball of water that got converted by planetoid debris when the planets were forming hence why it has holes or entrances at each end.

Judging by the shape of our moon, and evidence of catastrophic impacts in our pasts...
And the % of space rocks that are all or mostly ice....
I'd say it just landed here.... well after the formation of the planet
But before life started to appear. And probably grew for a while as our mini satellites crashed to the surface.


We still get hit by water, most of the "shooting stars" we see are ice rocks that burn up in our atmosphere.
And falls down as rain.
