pwm on an electric motor

lets say i have an electric motor that uses 60 amps at full throttle and for top rpm of course. if the motor is on full blast and i start pulsing the power with a pwm will this make my battery last longer? or just effectively make the battery act as the motor is on a lower setting on the original controller.


if this could work i could stay trolling for fishes longer!

what kind of trolling motor is it?
minnkota uses pwm in their 'maximizer' series. they claim 5 times longer at low speeds or something like that if i recall.
go for it, and if it's a 12V consider running on 24V. this is done all the time and has a few advantages.

hey!  nice song... i sweat walleye fishing - also get some good brown trout and steelhead over here in milwaukee, its a minnkota powerdrive bowmount... 12 v  40 pound thrust. i actaully think i remember something about the new maxximizer now, i guess now i just need to order a pwm and figure out how to make my motor work on 24 v?  do you know how in the heck to do that?
