@ Cap

Please rename this thread as the term "Uncle Tom" is completely inappropriate and very offensive.

The term used on Brasscheck TV is Militarized Hip Hop and should be left at that.

Regards,
Paul

I'm sure you know that it was not my intention to offend members of the black community with this thread title Goat.

As most know, the term "Uncle Tom" was coined by black people to describe fellow blacks who capitulated, and betrayed their brothers and sisters by doing the bidding of their rich white masters...even to the point of whipping their fellow slaves at the behest of their "masters".

That term was also used more recently by Harry Belafonte to describe "General" Colon Powell and Condy Rice for their roles of providing the same service to Bush and Cheney in supporting of the illegal invasion of Iraq.

The term is used once again...in this instance...to describe certain black hip hop artists like J Z and Beyonce for their part in the brainwashing their fellow blacks to accept the military/war society which the rich white elite are peddling.

Based on that, I do not feel the usage of the term is offensive, as applied here.

If Harry Belafonte whom I hold in high regard thinks its appropriate and applicable, then that good enough for me.

I hope that clears up any misconceptions as the the meaning and intent of the title of this thread.

I was appalled upon reading the article and seeing video evidence...now I am not so surprised as to why Etta James publicly attacked Beyonce, who had previously played her in the movie Cadillac Records.

Thanks for the clarification Cap-Z-ro

I now understand  ;)

Yes, the description certainly fits when you see the backdrop.

Etta James had a hard life and was taken advantage of by rich white men, and I'm sure she knew what Harry said and may have even spoken to him about it.

Harry and most of the black activists knew Obomba was an Uncle Tom and were noticeably absent before, during, and after the election.

So it begins to makes sense why Etta lashed out in public with extreme disapproval of Beyonce singing her signature song 'At Last' to Obomba.

I believe her tirade ended with Obomba was "not her president".

So, I guess morale of the story is, 'if Uncle Tom's shoes fit...you gotta wear em'.
