Free Energy will change the World - Free Energy will stop Climate Change - Free Energy will give us hope
and we will not surrender until free energy will be enabled all over the world, to power planes, cars, ships and trains.
Free energy will help the poor to become independent of needing expensive fuels.
So all in all Free energy will bring far more peace to the world than any other invention has already brought to the world.

MileHigh

From Wikipedia:

The petawatt is equal to one quadrillion watts and can be produced by the current generation of lasers for time-scales of the order of femtoseconds (10-15 s). Based on the average of 1.366 kW/m2 of total solar irradiance[4] the total energy flow of sunlight striking Earth's atmosphere is estimated at 174 PW.  (1.74 x 10^17 Watts)

Natural solar collectors are doing a pretty good job of converting sunlight into heat.  Why should we put dwindling rescources into a process that the Earth is already pretty good at doing.  Thousands of square miles of manmade solar energy collectors will just increase problems.  The conversion of ocean thermal energy to electrical energy would seem to make more sense.  Instead of using thousands of square miles of land area for solar collection the same area could be used for crop growth.  This would help mitigate the co2 problem.  When the crops die put the shit back in the ground where it belongs to lock up the carbon and chemical energy we have brought to the surface over the last 200years.  Maybe I'm wrong but have we thought solar collection through.

I think harnessing Solar power will decrease the warming up. We substract! heat out of the system.

1. .To convert it into energy, its cooled down. So there is heat being absorbed. The better the panel, the more heat gets converted into energy.

2. Also a solarcolector is shiny, meaning it reflects rays (heat)  away back up also.

3. Under a solarpanel there is shadow, so direct ground heating is minimized.
(Maybe you can even grow plants under the panels, in the shadow. Use the water u collect from the condens on the panels at night)

But i do agree it would spoil the landscape!
