I notice that, according to my old fashioned compass, the north direction has apparently shifted slightly over the past few months.

Since the Chilean earthquake in July 2010, has anyone monitored the magnetic pole and observed the similar findings?

For example, did you notice that the pointer in your compass has moved approximately 3~4 degree eastwards within these few months?

Since my compass is too old-fashioned, I would not rule out any measurement errors due to some problems in my compass.

the magnetic pole is always moving. a good top map will have magnetic north and true north
indicated as well as a correction factor for magnetic north over time.

Have you heard about that the sun did rise 2 days too early in Greenland ?

What could that have caused ??

I started monitoring the magnetic north pole in 2007. I did not observe any noticeable change in the north pointer of my compass until the last Chilean earthquake (in July 2010).

Please post your most updated "good top map" so that we understand what's going on.
