Update on self connection:
I can lucid dream almost any time of day now.  But, the images in the dreams have nothing to do with the piezo-electric project.  Also, the persons in the dreams are usually people I don't know and have never seen before.  I am unable to relate to what message I am supposed to be getting from those dreams.  Anyway, I'm glad that I am at least making contact with something.  This is exciting.

Silicon (Si)  Quartz Crystals
Finely ground silica sand is available for sand blasting operations.  Those crystals would be very small indeed.  If the quartz needs to be adhered to a surface, maybe fine industrial sandpaper would work for lining the inside of our piezo cells.  Water proof sandpaper is readily available and comes as fine as you want it.  600 grit is as fine as you'd probably want. 

Anyway, please comment on this.  I'm trying to follow Power1's hints here. 

You need to be adhere ZnO to a permanent structure, what crystal geometry best amplifies wave frequency?. they are the same one used in electronics.

ewizard, china piezo were designed for water atomizing, fits the bill well, just
work on raising oscillation, very doable. you can easily get ready made
commercial resonator units, just look around.
