Hi Bill,

It is difficult to see why there is the level difference between the base and the entrance of the smot elevation?  I mean the level difference of about a ball height where the ball returns to the front of the entrance and bumps the vertical wall. 

Maybe giving another smot ramp just after the present one (if a single but longer than the present ramp is not enough) so that the ball could climb to a higher height so that its potential energy would be higher, hence could have higher kinetic energy in the end to enter again?
Perhaps with the second (or third) ramp, combined with extending the magnets downwards in front of the entrance point, you could close the loop.  Wish you good luck and much patience.

Well I am going to commit SMOT overunity heresy here. Forget about potential and kinetic energy, they really are NOT a factor. The ball is initally pulled up the ramp by the magnets, it exits through ramp and falls into a scoop. Which is about 2.25" at its bottom from the exit point off the uchannel.
The ball moves trough the scoop and lands on the blue plate but it has regained  a lot of height. It is this feature that makes this device unique from other SMOTS.
The plate is tipped about 1/4 so that the ball rolls through the the two railings and on to the u channel connecting it to the receiving plate. That uchannel is sloped another 1/4" so it allows the ball to enter the lower blue plate which is also sloped towards the entry point .
The ball has no memory it is only behaving at any instant because of the magnetic and or gravitational forces that are acting upon it.
I have built numerous SMOTs where I roll a ball down the uchannel have it loop around and enter a SMOT conf. and it shoots to its top.But it will not exit because of the strong gate required to get it high enough to exit without coging onto one of the magnets.
Friction is the only real force that needs to be concerned with.
When I started working on this I ordered 450 of these ceramic magnets and built this gigantic SMOT using every one of them It was 32" long with 225 magnets on each side. My reasoning was I needed a lot of force to propel the ball high eough to exit cleanly at the end. Unfortunatly to do this I would have to raise the entry point up a little to reduce the slope. I have pictures if anyone is interested.
Quite by accident I found out that I could achieve  the same effect using a total of eight magnets-BUMMER- but good. So I have hugh stack of magnnets left over. 
When the ball is rolling on the first blue plate it is still lower than the origional entry point so having it enter another SMOT will not do anything.
I have solved the friction problem with speed, the exit is flawless and the scoop works as should be. I know how to have the ball enter the SMOT now I have to connect the two together.
Since the ball is moving at a good speed on the receiving plate I have just added another 1/4" to the height so that the entry distance is even less..
Actually once you get around all the reasons why its not suppossed to work it becomes very clear why it will work.
I have also figured out a way that it would generate voltage which has nothing to do with  connecting any kind of shaft to the ball.

Let's suppose you manage to setup a barely self looping SMOT.
Any kind of load, even the smallest drag from harvesting electricity, will slow down the boll and stop the SMOT.
You need a system that has plenty of excess energy to be able to harvest any energy at all.

I find your development interesting, Please continue.....Perhaps one day...... :-)
