magnets to use?

Hello all!
I am very much a newbie when it comes to electronics and energy...
I am trying to make my first pulse motor to play around with.  I have watched a ton of the youtube videos of machines several of you have made and have been completely encouraged to try this on my own.
my first issue is, what are the smallest magnets i should get to make one work?

I was a bit hasty and bought some 1/8 x 1/8 neo cylinders by mistake (put my cart before my horse )
so far, i have built several different circuits and made a few different types of motors and nothing is working.  It is all together possible that i am not building my circuits correctly, but i am learning.  i am trying to eliminate reasons why i am not getting any success, and if my circuits are working properly (and they are near as i can tell) then my magnets are to small.  it looks like a lot of folks use 1/2" cylinders but honestly it's hard to tell just from watching videos.
any and all advice i can get will be greatly appreciated!!

Hello:

You can check my youtube channel and I have several pulse motor videos there.  I used 1/2" dia x 1/4" thick neos for my Bedini rotor motor.  I used a diametrically magnetized cylinder, 2" long x 1/8" ID x 1" OD for my replication of Jonnydavro's One Magnet No bearing Bedini replication.

All of these work very well.

that does help, thank you very much!!  I am nearly certain i have the circuits wired correctly, though i am sure they could be wired more efficiently.  I am learning circuitry at the same time as the rest of this, so some of the circuit diagrams are still a bit beyond me, but there have been several with LED's in them, and those have lit up ok.  once i get some bigger magnets ordered that will at least limit what could be wrong, and maybe help me move on from there.
thanks a ton for the reply, and hopefully next time you hear from me, i will have a working pulse motor on a Bedini SSG circuit (once my parts get here next week)

excellent!!  great videos!
I have watched nearly all of Lidmotor's videos so far, and i am using his design for my own motor (small wood frame with needle bearings, though so far with my small magnets i tried it with a wine cork instead of a lid, but once i get my bigger magnets, i will make a bigger rotor .  his videos are also where i have gotten most of the circuits i have tried, at least until i get the parts for the SSG circuit.
I also subscribed to your channel this afternoon.  on Youtube i am pictureN8.  i don't have any videos up yet, but once i get a working motor, i will post it!! 
I had also checked out introvertabrate's channel before too, and have now subscribed to it as well!!

I am taking in any and all information that i can atm, so thanks a ton for the links!!  I am super glad i found this forum, and i look forward to learning a lot more going forward.
