You might be surprised at the trouble people will go through to fool you.

Imagine this: you and a friend are walking to his pickup out in the parking lot, talking. He spies a bent nail on the ground, and says to you, "watch this, I learned this from Michael Faraday himself, speaking to me in a dream the other night". He reaches down and picks up the bent nail and shows it to you clearly, even lets you handle it for a moment, and it is certainly quite bent, almost 90 degrees of bend to it. Then he puts it in the palm of his hand and begins to stroke it gently..... and before your very eyes, it straightens... and unbends.... and straightens out until it is perfectly straight. Then he uses a rock to pound the straight nail into a piece of wood in the back of his truck.

What he knows and you don't, is that for 60 bucks you can buy a Nitinol nail from a magic supply house........ and it's not very risky to leave it sitting on the ground for a few minutes, until it's "found" and picked up for the illusion.

I once flabbergasted a bunch of psychic believers, by bending a spoon.... a _plastic_ spoon, in front of them.... they thought. All the more amazing because I had one of them go to the corner store and bring back an unopened package of plastic cutlery, from which they selected the spoon they wanted me to bend, which they marked and handed to me. Unfortunately.... I managed to break that one "accidentally" and so we had to use a second spoon from the box... which they also marked, but _after_ they had already given it to me -- marked while I was holding onto it. Of course by that time I had already switched the new spoon for the "faked" one that I had prepared beforehand by twisting it over a candle flame and concealed in my clothing. When I "produced" the twisted spoon along with the patter and misdirection.... everybody there (the ones who didn't know me already that is) believed that I had actually psychically twisted the _plastic_, highly breakable spoon.
The hardest part was buying the three different brands of plastic cutlery at the corner market, hours before hand,  and preparing a faked spoon from each set and then remembering where I had stashed the different spoons! I had no control over which brand the person sent to the store would select so I had to have one for each different pattern of plasticware.

However, in all fairness: Just because some device or effect can be faked, that does NOT mean, necessarily, that the original device or effect was faked.

But if fakery is the only way that makes sense, and is consistent with the observations.... then it is highly probable to be the correct explanation. It's that "consistent with observation" that is the bugbear. David Copperfield makes the Statue of Liberty disappear by rotating the entire audience to look in a different direction, and then rotating them back to make it reappear again, without them even noticing.....

I am annoyed. Annoyed by the fact people waste our time with these kind of fakes videos. Do they think it's funny? Yeah, as fun as a lie.

They could be honest. They could title their videos with "almost overunity", "on the edge of free energy" or "nearly perpetual motion". Phrases which make people find these videos easily, make them interested, but still remain true.

It escapes my mind how and why people spend so much time to make fake videos and fake devices at all - especially if they have nothing to gain from it, not even money. Even when they are desperate for free energy and have failed in their own experiments it doesn't justify to start this stupidity. Once people start bullshitting, I tend to ignore them and their works. I'm certainly not the only one who does that. Is it that what these people want?

Thanks for the fake replication TK, I know you just did this to show how easy this fake can be done. It was funny the way you presented and described it  , but it ain't funny the way the original video was made. We've had enough Mylows, Mike Bradies, Lifehackers now...

Is there a list of fakes? It's hard to seperate the fakes from the genuines on YouTube.
