Also if to look what common is between Tesla coil and nanosecond pulse generator in this setup the logical clue remains about hitting with sharp resonant pulse on right period of time for creating explosive longitudinal wave in grenade coil which affects the output. This still can be referred to the crude approaches such as the step-up transformer brought near coil/antenna which take HV discharge from capacitor over spark gap. That still make bulbs shine much brighter than just from the inverter itself.

Its not difficult to make the inductive filament bulb shine brighter with a high frequency and high voltage pulsed supply, so what is the significance of this in respect of achieving self-running?

Could it be that you have bigger load amperage drops from the reservoir and when he gets a shot high voltage flash and loads the so fast tank (reservoir ) LC or This capacitor 10uF oil.
previously it tesla coil to load the capacitor bank before the bridge rectifier 0.47!

When there is HV shock-wave present on transformer not only bulb goes brighter but also the power consumption on the inverter drops sharply. The assumption is you can reach power consumption down to the very low level while the output stay high.
It is my personal opinion on all this after of observation in many different experiments but it has real value to explore. Especially when you have bucking coils in steps with net inductance closing to zero still the with the high power output and not coupling with input power consumption.

but show how to perform the inwerter 1.5Amp and light the damn 250 watts.
