Or just plain crazy?? I have indicated with a red arrow where I see there being a fundamental flaw in the schematic. I have also drawn a line where I think the 50Hz signal should be applied to the bias coils.

Does anyone else agree?? The HF spark would just find it's way through the 50 Hz circuit IMO!!

No, I think schematic original is better.  Then spark gap disharges, then it gose thrue hight curent coil (kick up hight curent in hight curent coil, speed ups this hight curent) and then maybe we get mixed hight curent with hight voltage. ТДКС is flayback transformer, only windings draw in not proportion.

I do see your point. My concern was with the HV overwhelming the transistors however I now see the 50 Hz Signal generator has a transformer output, so this might just be OK.

PS How does this translate into English?? I see ferrite sausage permeability 2000 but that is as far as my very limited knowledge of Russian?? Goes.
