Free Energy will change the World - Free Energy will stop Climate Change - Free Energy will give us hope
and we will not surrender until free energy will be enabled all over the world, to power planes, cars, ships and trains.
Free energy will help the poor to become independent of needing expensive fuels.
So all in all Free energy will bring far more peace to the world than any other invention has already brought to the world.

lol,  i blame it on the TL494  :-[
TL494 is an excellent PWM circuit.
It is not driving your transformer directly - the MOSFETs are!

Ok Hoppy,  thanks for the info, i will start with the VCO too, what circuit did you use?  the "Dally  2012" with the 74HCT00's?

Regards Itsu

Yes, the Dally 2012. You can also use SN7400's.

I just need the transformer which is on order. What wire did you use for the final HV wrap on the main coil?

Hoppy,

i bought this cable on ebay:

50 feet HV Tesla Coil Wire High Voltage Cable 24 KV, Belden

and used all 50 feet of it as L4.

Ok guys,

things went much better after i created my ferrite transformer from an old TV yoke which i had for the "yoke project"

It had about 200 turns 0.3mm secondaries, so i added 2x  25 turns primaries which is easy as this yoke is split in 2 (about 400uH / prim).

Nothing is heating up except the both 22K Ohm terminating resistors across the secondaries.
I am pulling 12V / 0.5A, which is much better then my 8A yesterday

Output on the both secondaries is a nice square wave 480V P2P.

The drain voltage shows still some nasty spikes (330V / 500ns), so have to install some 28V zeners later.

Video to be seen here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Si_vWutds34&feature=youtu.be

Thanks to all for your advices, and on with the VCO / nano-pulser.

Itsu,

Thanks for the info on your HV wire. A split ferrite yoke is a good option to the toroid and much easier to wind!

I have attached a Kapanadze schematic of a similar but earlier and more basic form of the Dally 2012 schematic that I saved some time ago. This shows an inverter running at 50Hz, so the Jury is still out as which frequency the inverters on the latest schematics are working at. Anyway, as you are building at 4.6KHz and I'm at 50Hz, we will cover both.

Hoppy
