hi Geofusion,

I think i have spent around USD 700 for various HV items.

The most expensive and the important item is the 40KV 20MHZ passive probe for my oscilloscope.This will allow me to ensure that i will not cross the hv capacitor rating and for the first time i should able to
see what high voltage or frequency i am running at.

Large HV caps for don smiths and Akula.
800w Resistive dimmer on the cheap <$10 to be used as variac for NST 220v 10KV,30mA,30KHZ.
and many other etc.

All the items are in the mist of delivery to my place.

There is nothing much i'm doing in the mean time except research and more research as i have sorted out what i need to do in my head.

oh yes I can imagine how much you could be investing for the don smith akula experiments. it's a great sum of USD there hehe. Ahh Great! 40KV 20MHZ passive probe looks something that will help alot , for sure. Yes, we need to see the frequency of the are across the system.

nice nice , I have those caps already which Akula is using, I will be replicating one of his devices, but one thing I am missing is the frequency Generator for the Fets / IGBT's. This is for me to understand  and see how to produce massive heating energy with the Round ferrite yoke and with the one cap in series and tune to the best resonance on high Freq. That to me is the most important part within these systems of Akula.

I wish you all the best while replicating , I would gladly keep up with posts and Ideas, I have also a ton of information of Don and Akula and others, saved Docs and pictures of schematics, I do understand alot of the schematics, but I have to choose now which one to be trying out now, sins I managed alot with my other devices.
I think i would be starting with the Akula system because it's similair to my understanding to with most of his circuits.

Yeah man, do extensive researching, that is what I did too.
that is how i managed to understand most of things so easily

Dear GeoFusion, Magpwr and Nick.

Just a couple of parts still to arrive before the Akula0083  No 1 device re run !!

I have obtained some really " Bad A** " IGBT's from the States 1200 V @ 72 A !! They are super fast too. I decided to make the Snubber cct properly this time so as to protect them.

I will also be driving with a small inverter ( 150 W ), just going to use a few less bulbs for the load.

We all seem to be getting the idea that a free running Tesla, Slayer or Kacher coil may well be the answer. This will also be applied to my next series of tests when the parts arrive.

Geo, looking forward to your input over on the 30 W thread !!

With this divice Akula me little explain in PM in one forum.
I think you need wound coil like in this picture [size=78%]http://realstrannik.ru/media/kunena/attachments/3683/GEDC0723.JPG[/size] Exatly like in this there writen "СЪЕМНАЯ". So here 3 layers. One layer longer, other shorter and wounded in other direction and thrid layer one mo time shorter and wound nt shore in that direction, but probarly again in other. In That video higher coil have also free layers and probarly lexatly like in this picture. And exatly that much turns. Akula write to me, that wire size is 6 mm2.
First layer have 56 turns, second 28 turns and thrid 14 turns.
Akula use without oxigen wire, but can use and with oxigen, only output be smaller. With oxigen wire for selfrunning go 170 W and 400 W for lamps.    Uasulaly cuper wire is with oxigen.

Oxygen free copper wire was something that non of us even thought off.I don't know if anyone is able to advise on how to look for "oxygen free wire",especially the multi strand electrical wires which we currently have and use.

Easy, as regards Oxygen free copper wire !! High class speaker wire is O free !!

I just looked on eBay, not cheap though but available in 2.5 mm2 !!
