Hi Hoppy !
Do you see same pulsing effect when kacher is off ?
Is your pulsing light correlated with ferrite bar moving near by ?
Is your load lamp 20W at 12V or 220V (110V) rated?
Sorry for excessive curiosity ! ;)

Maximum power transfer from inductor to grenade coil is when inductor-capacitor-3T assembly is driven by push-pull at exactly resonant frequency. If you play with your ferrite bar near inductor, you change its inductance, therefore resonant frequency of series  inductor-capacitor-3T assembly not match anymore to push-pull frequency set previously, unless your push-pull is adaptive, case when you will not see that pulsation, just steady bright of light bulb.

Edit:
And further more, when you put ferrite bar inside the grenade, you increase coupling factor between inductor and grenade coils in respect of lamp brightness or pulsing.

Hi Skywalker,

The answers to your questions in order: -
Yes, Yes, 10W / 240V

As I think I explained, this is probably just a normal beat frequency effect. The kacher appears to have very little if any real influence on the grenade / inductor coils in respect of bulb brightness or pulsing.

    Guys:
At least on my set up, placing a ferrite rod inside of the Kacher tube does not help to increase the bulb lumin levels. Only dims them, instead.
Placing one or several egg shaped magnetite magnets on the yoke, does change the running frequencies, and can improve the bulbs output, but not so, if using additional ferrite cores. But, using the right fets, as well as the right tuning caps, is most important to obtain the best output. The most cost effective time spent, is finding the right combination of tuning caps. And, it does not always have to be the 0.47uf caps.  So, try other cap combos, as well. I've tried many many different tuning caps...

I'm now able to partially light 3 bulbs, a 50w, 40w and 25 watt, even when just using my smaller fets. Any higher wattage bulbs will kill the oscillations. This is just on the yoke crt, with no tuning caps, and without the grenade connected. Connecting the grenade does increase bulb brightness, but, I have not connected my newly correctly rewound grenade coil, yet. I'll do so today, as I was buying some different wire for making a new Kacher antenna coil, before going ahead.

I also observe that higher voltage outputs from the crt, does not always mean brighter bulbs.

Itsu: The small choke on your yoke output wire can possibly be used to feed back this current to the input??? What happens if you connect this choke/bridge/cap back to the input? It needs to be tuned down to provide only 24v, or so. When I tried this using the flyback core/bridge/150-200uf 450v cap, it added a lot brightness to my bulbs. I tried this to see if the additional PSU can be substituted for the above feed back path.  As Vasmus, SR, and others were not using the Akula type of PSU, on their self runners.

hi Hoppy,

If you mentioned the beat effect. Then no typical common step up or down transformer can achieve this effect in itself.

I was curious about the kacher frequency and your pwm generator frequency at the time which "beat effect was noted".

Using harmonics calculator i was curious did it fall around 60th subharmonics of kacher coil.

We should not overlook all the tiny unusual details which rarely happens.

Please do get it earthed and recheck the resonance frequency of the multilayer coil eg:6....7Mhz and perform similar test.

hi itsu,Hoppy and everyone else,

I do believe i may have the answer to why there is such high voltage reading across capacitor 0.47uf especially for itsu and yet the bulb are dimly lit.

This is something to do with "Reactance of a capacitor"

Just try to punch some number into the web site pasted below base on your capacitor reading via L/C meter(Please don't trust the value on capacitor) and frequency base on PWM generator.
Example:490nf for capacitor and 27khz for PWM generator
Answer:It's around 12 Ohms if you are sticking with 0.47uf

http://www.sengpielaudio.com/calculator-RC.htm

Now let's take Ohms reading of 25 turns x 2 bifilar winding. If this figure is way lower than 12 Ohms.
Then at this point i can safely say that you have a case of " impedance mismatch
" between capacitor and winding .
It is the main reason why such high voltage can be seen across the capacitor at (LC resonance)rather than at the winding.

Now let's assume you start using 1.2uf capacitor at 27khz as example. The Reactance of capacitor is now 4.9Ohms.

This capacitor reactance would be now closer in order to match impedance of 25 x 2 bifilar coil.

This is something to seriously consider related to capacitor value selection.

Yes the formula in web is based on ideal capacitor without taking into account high or low ESR which would be represented as losses.
To be on the safe side i just use induction heating capacitor x 4 in parallel to form 1uf at first.

Hi Hoppy, what is the frequency of this beat? While this beating, what happens when you slightly move the frequency potentiometer? Does this beat change frequency? Does it disappear?

Guys I attach a schematic with a Cw and a ccw arrangement of a katcher coil. The first occasion is mine, with both primary and secondary cw arrangement. In this case collector goes on the right end of primary as you look at the picture. Where the collector goes when the arrangement is the opposite? At end no.1 or no.2?
