   It's not wasting my time Hoppy, what is wasting my time are all your negative comments.
   The point of Nelson's device showing was to inform me and everyone else, of trying out different drivers. That was it...
And that my unpaid friend, is not a waste of my time.  Sorry for the insults, but as you can see I'm irritated, as well.

Its refreshing that Nelson has posted part of his build detail and will hopefully guide us all to understand how to achieve self-running. Let's see how this develops and maybe you will see some more positive comments from me.

I will open the exception because i share with Alien gray the same . I think is fair do the same to other people .
Now end of story . I will do not spend any time try explain details how it work , but i assure that other people has able to replicate that , so interested people can try duplicate too if want  only to test.

Just quick question - you are mixing stepped down high frequency high voltage with pulsed current flow on main circuit which have choke(which is also LC circuit) with output going to the charger. Is that correct?
Also the driver for a choke is borrowed from Joule Thief circuit?

I sure don't know how it works. As I'm not an electronics engineer. So, therefore I'm looking for alternatives.

  Nelson:  Is this the same driver as what is shown in the diagram that you just posted? (Second picture below). 
  Third picture (below) is of your self runner, which does not use the same Exciter driver circuit. Right?  Or does it?

Maybe it is just me as I was working with quite complex radio and digital circuits since age of 15...

  Maybe it's just that you think that you know how it works, and so it seams so simple.  But, you've never built it.
  We've heard all the theories, but not one working replication. Yet...

  I built enough pcb of all types to fill my house and your house up to the roof, but, I still don't know how to make this little simple device self run. But, I will give it every effort that I can,  against all odds.
