Do you recall the recent extreme rudeness and immaturity by someone else when we were discussing alleged "chem trails?"  You didn't seem to have any issue with that, no attempt was made by you to discourage it at all, which implies that you passively encouraged it.

Sometimes it is difficult to tell when reading postings
within a discussion whether the post is made with
malevolent intent or is, instead, simply hyperbolic
jest.

Among friends discussions often contain jesting
which can have the appearance of rudeness or
insult;  to be taken with a grain of salt as a good
natured joke.  This style of exchange is very common-
place when two or more sailors are engaged in
banter.  It isn't meant to be malevolent or harmful
although bystanders may believe so.

Then, on the other hand, there is occasionally an
exchange which is meant to be hurtful.  These are
generally easier to distinguish as they're usually
directed at a specific person.

Then there are opinions which are delivered with
a high degree of frankness and candidness which
some may find offensive, even if they are essentially
true.

We are emotional creatures who frequently find
temptation difficult to resist.  My preference is to
say what must be said without rancor and with
finesse. although admittedly, there are times when
observing a heated, no-holds-barred exchange can
indeed be humorous.

My natural inclination is to support the target of
rude, malevolent communication and to protest
when it seems prudent.

For the record:  This forum is much better managed
than EF and the exchanges are far more gentlemanly.
I was banned from EF for essentially saying, in as nice
a way as possible, that Erron is a loose cannon.

I've reviewed the entire thread you referenced above
MileHigh .  I didn't find anything particularly alarming.

What did you find to be malevolent rudeness?

SeaMonkey:

I could see the hyperbole in the "spirited exchanges."  It's almost like a stylized form of Rap.  The point still hits home though.  It was all referencing your backing up of Hoppy's point.

You would have admit you sensed at least a tinge of malevolent rudeness?

It's all water under the bridge.

The posting that Hoppy brought our attention
to was from one of the infamous regulars at
EF.  I was in agreement with Hoppy that this
member has a well established reputation and
that those who moderate that forum seem to
encourage such boorishness.

Whatever it takes to bring in new blood and
more loot.

Are you saying that the malevolence is in this
forum or over at EF?
