Tests have been run on OAM.  It works under at least some circumstances.  At a minimum expect that more study information will be published.  Taht's not the same as saying it is going to take over wireless in the next three years.

I wonder if OAM can be applied to other areas. TMS comes to mind. I know this is a stretch but I would think that (OAM)  could be used to modulate and penetrate walls or bones on higher frequencies if propagated. It could be the start of some new science. Separately seems something that could lend itself to entanglement. I  saw an article where a Japanese scientist was theorizing that it would be possible to entangle high energy particles. Spooky power at a distance. I know its hard to couple the 2 ideas above, sorry.
