I have attached a diagram. As far as I knew, the radial force (or centripetal force) is directed inward toward the
centrepoint of the circular path that the object is following. But you have your radial force directed outward
(a centrifugal force) why is that?

As far as I remember work is defined as W=Fd, where:
W = Work {Nm}
F = Force {N}
d = Distance {m}
I'm sure that you know this, but I want to make sure that I am speaking the same language as you. The mercury
and water must accelerate. However, the radial component can do no work as it is not in the direction of motion
(the radial force is acting perpendicular to the direction of the water and the mercury).

My turbine = two springs and  1/2 water pipe + 1/2 mercury  pipe

Main idea is very simple
