Nice thread John,

i wanted to do some experiments with 2 Kacher coils driven by 1 primary for some time and i guess this thread is right for this.

In the back of my mind the following website and the below diagram plays a role allthough i am aware its very different.

Both kachers are running kind of, and there is some interaction as the streamers are mingling.

Need to set up the glass in between with a fixture so its more stable, and also a conductive groundplain underneath the 2 coils could improve the interaction.

This experiment of yours have given me ideas for suggestion.
The result would be similar my simplified version in my head.
Assembled just 1 tall tesla coil but primary coil is in the middle.
Both ends of tesla coil is connected to mini sphere place quite near to each other at the top.But one side of tesla coil there is ferrite rod placed in it to intentionally reduce it's resonance frequency which was similar as another half of tesla coil.

Example both half resonance was at 300khz.But after placing ferrite another half can be made to resonate 1/2 of it's original frequency.

Nano or microsecond pulse eg:via spark gap is still the key to unlock this tiny fireball.
I noticed spark can go through thick sheet of glass as also seen in your video.Isn't this wonderful surprise.

Hello Itsu,

The respecitve document by William Lyne deals with creating ball-lightnings and not mutual discharge between the hot terminals of both coils.

the two coil are too close. One can see that the big coil discharges into the small one. The stronger em-field of the big coil chokes the small coil so the small coil can not work properly

It would be necessary to experiment with variation of  the distance between the two coils and variation of the primary so that
for example you have two primaries put in parallel or in series with each other.
Also small spheres are necessary at the hot side but what size ?

Calculation of the capacitance of a sphere against space or ground:

C = C = 4 pi εo ε r

Thanks for your comments and suggestions guys.

i am aware its very different from the linked document, but like mentioned by d3x0r, the used potential there (Megavolts) will be impossible to create by me.

I just wanted to see what is going to happen and perhaps put some idea's in someones head.

I guess i have to make some spheres (10/15cm diameter) to put ontop.

For now i put the glass plate in a fixture and was able to tune with my hand either the big or small coil to produce a stronger streamer which seems to happen when the small coil is exactly double the frequency (1120KHz) of the big coil (560KHz), but i need to verify that by additional measurements somehow.

Still fooling around with the dual kacher, now fitted with a topload and put on a groundplane.
Primaries are in series from 1 driver.

With a tuning aid, i can tune the smaller kacher into the double frequency of the bigger one and kind of lock both

I have no more streamers, even with 24V @ 4A, but the transistor heats up rapidly then.
