Nope, that's not quite correct. The changing current in the primary coil causes the magnetic field contained in the toroid to vary in strength and direction. Why would you think this would not produce inductive coupling to a secondary coil... since it obviously does? And not by flux leakage either... which is how Syke's demonstration is working.

We know we can place say ten turns on one side of a toroid, and then another ten on the other side of the toroid core, and when a current is passed through one, the other will couple to it. If there is no flux leakage from the core, then what magnetic field is causing a current flow in the secondary coil when a load is placed across it. ?

I think you're getting Flux Linkage and Flux Leakage mixed up.

You are exactly right if you change the term to Linkage. Its just the one word that TK is trying to be picky about.

Flux Leakage, is more commonly known as "Leakage Flux" or "Loose Coupling" or "Loosely Coupled" device.

I have posted in the past, the document from George I Cohn "Electromagnetic Induction" is one of the best I have seen when it comes to this Field, Electromagnetism.

There is more insteresting experiment you can perform. Induction occur also if you make and break the magnetic path. :-) Obvious example is Leedscalning PMH.
