Memristor aka Transcapacitor

Hi all,

The following link announces a new electrical component that could round out the suite of basic electronic circuit elements ... that are resistor, capacitor, inductor, and now, the Memristor. The Memristor can be used as a non-volatile memory device that can store several levels or 'states' at once in the form of 'charge'. It's origins reach back to the 1970's, but rings of another (then promising) device that was referred to as a 'Trans Capacitor' or Trancap. The people wearing the aluminum foil hats of the time claimed the Transcap to be some sort of reverse-engineered alien technology.  Well, whatever.  There is one interesting thing to note: 15 or more years ago, you could do an internet search for 'Transcapacitor' or almost any keyword being close to 'Trans' or 'Cap' and you'd get a bunch of hits. Now, not so much. Is it possible that the Memristor and Transcapacitor are the same beast? Anyone familiar with this? Please reply.

Hi all,

I remember posting that up there. I also remember 'no replies'. After viewing the video linked above, I guess I was wrong when I stated that it could be used as a "non-volatile" .... etc.. I seem to remember that there was some sort of distinction between a Memristor and a Transcapacitor, but it escapes me. Well I was wrong about the "non-volatile" thing and am probably wrong about that too.

Darn it ... now I'm interested in it again!

You know, I was into "free energy" for a long, long time ... decades. And now I ask: Why all of these "free energy motors, circuits, other schemes"? It has been shown that 'Solar PV' WORKS! Most of this "free energy stuff" is rooted in the fear the the "Big, Bad, Government" will kill you or imprison you if you attain energy independence. That's a crock of S--T! If you lay out Solar Panels, a battery bank enough to accommodate your night-time needs as well and an Inverter(s), then you are "ENERGY INDEPENDENT". The "government" can't keep you from buying panel, batteries and inverters. I was deeply involved in FE circuits, but then realized ... "WTF"? GO SOLAR ... IT WORKS! Don't be disillusioned by all of the "bedini-type" devices. You don't need ANY of those (even if they DID work ... which they don't) unless you plan on living somewhere else other than 'ON Earth' ... and I doubt you will every live off-world in your lifetime. Not to single out Bedini, but I have asked him countless times over the years if he "PAYS AN ELECTRIC BILL". I have never received an answer to that simple question!!!!!!!!!!!!!
