Didn't they find that the EM drive was in fact working more like an ion drive by emitting a neutral photon?

When two out of phase microwaves combine at the instant they would reflect from the metal surface, they would instead cancel each others wave and because it is neutral at that instant it would pass through the metal instead of being reflected.
The emission is then a dual out of phase photon that has no magnetic wave and is undetectable but still has mass.

I'm thinking that if this is true then a regular microwave oven must also be emitting these same undetectable photons also.......right?

No they did not find it was working like an ion drive. That was just the usual mindless internet speculation looking for excuses to invalidate something they obviously do not understand.


If we think about the EmDrive operation it's not that complex however for most people the thinking part is the real issue. The problem is most people do not even understand the principals of a simple lever. You see if we place equal mass on each side of a lever we would learn that we can add or take away something on one side to perform work. Thus gaining something can be equal to losing something in regards to Work and Energy.


Now in the Emdrive it is plausible that the microwaves in the resonant cavity interfere with the normal absorption and radiation of energy in matter ie. the metal of the device. That is if for any reason the rate of absorption/radiation changes then this must also have an influence on all that EM energy external to the device. You did know the universe is seething with EM energy didn't you?. You see if the universe wasn't a literal sea of energy then there would be no mechanism for Energy to move from one place to another. Thus we know as a fact that all energy in translation from one place to another must occupy every space in between... the universe is full of Energy.


As such this absurd notion that the EmDrive is somehow pushing on nothing and violating the conservation of momentum in the process is a lesson in ignorance because there is no "nothing" anywhere. You see not unlike our simple lever gaining/losing something the EmDrive may cancel an external wave or add to it to produce a force. The question is where does this take place and on what level?. The process is quite easy to understand, if we shake the framework of matter hard and fast enough it becomes out of phase with all that external energy it was always interacting with. This phase differential produces a force in matter which acts against a universe full of Energy. Not unlike a slinky toy vibrating at ultrasonic frequencies which appears to be static or stationary to our eyes yet slowly inches forward across the floor. Replace the oscillating slinky with matter and the floor with EM Energy and we have a simple mechanism to produce a motive force.


A good subject which illustrates this phenomena is Cymatics. Apparently nobody thought that we could cause the sand to oscillate in itself and produce the same result as oscillating the table. The sand is the framework or structure of matter and the oscillating table the universe or vice versa and the sand may be caused to oscillate in itself interacting with the table. Not a big deal, not that complicated.

As we know from history, sometimes the first theory may not be the correct theory.
I think all possibilities need to be examined in order to find exactly why it works, then it becomes easier to improve it's performance.

The hypothetical axion particle might explain the thrust.  The axion particle was expected to decay into a pair of microwave photons, but otherwise not interact with ordinary matter.  The reverse process might happen in the EM drive cavity, with microwave photon pairs forming axions moving in one direction which would then go through the cavity wall and carry away momentum, giving the thrust.  To test this idea, one of the proposed axion detectors could be placed in the expected exhaust stream from a running EM drive.  One proposed axion detector looks for the decay into microwave photons.
