You are confusing magnetic drag with Lorentz force.  The Lorentz force will be there even if there is no core in the coil.  And the Lorentz force will always oppose the movement of the magnet.  Some experimenters have seemed to prove that you can delay the  Lorentz force until the magnet is well past the coil.  But you cannot eliminate it.

You are correct and whether a core is present or not the induced current is always in such a direction that it repels the magnet on approach and attracts it when it tries to leave. It's kind of strange that so many people would keep using this configuration basically designed to always oppose any motion. They should know by now it cannot work and yet they just keep doing it over and over.

Like the addict who is told there addiction is killing them but they cannot stop because there addiction is not a substance but habitual behavior. A mental problem which will not allow them to see things for what they are in reality and change.

Which begs the question, why keep beating a dead horse using a form of induction we should know by now cannot work when there are other options?. The Lorentz force and this configuration of magnets/coils is designed to be COP<1 hence the laws stating as much. The laws do not say COP>1 is impossible only that this configuration will always be less than COP 1 by design. In fact many great FE inventors called this kind of generator a braking generator because it was an excellent braking device and space heater but a really crappy electrical generator, lol.
