It will be interesting to see where the doomsday clock will be this year. As of January 20, 2022 we were 100 seconds to midnight. Keep in mind this was before the illegal Russian invasion of Ukraine on Feb 24. Given Russia is consistently threatening to use Nukes I have no idea where the doomsday clock could be in 2023?... 20 seconds to midnight?.

2022 is the 4th warmest year on record while the last seven years have been the hottest on record by a clear margin. Global warming is not even debatable at this point and even a fool can see it's getting warmer.

This is an interesting map and we can see the worst pollution is in Europe, China and Russia. The U.S and Canada are generally good to moderate. This only makes sense because in the real world population density versus land area matters.

Go figure, the most overpopulated areas are the most polluted. So while the Western world may pollute more per person we also have a drastically lower population/larger land area to offset said pollution. For example the city of Tokyo Japan has more people than the entire country of Canada covering 3.85 million square miles. As such many of the statistics we see on the news are completely biased and the real problem comes down to overpopulation/consumption versus land area/resources.

In fact overpopulation has become a huge liability as automation and robotics increase.

Look at the numbers, 81% of work tasks could be replaced by automation...

In any case 2023 is beginning to look like it could be an interesting year. Sure we have problems, we always have problems, but more people are starting to embrace real solutions. Nobody honestly believes the "nothing is wrong" and "nobody is to blame" bullshit anymore. I think that's half the battle, understanding we have a problem then doing something about it.
