No they are not lesser but much of the Russian population has been brainwashed and oppressed by decades of propaganda.

Many countries have weaponized patriotism or beliefs to control the narrative so those in power can profit.

For example, Russia, China, India have very low or no minimum wages and use the absurd excuse it's good for the economy thus there country based on "patriotism". An imaginary trickle down economy which never trickles down because it's a lie based on greed and control. Where most progressive countries like Canada, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Norway etc... have a decent minimum or living wage.

It begs the question, are all the supposedly wealthy superpowers like the U.S, China and Russia misleading everyone?.

If there so powerful and wealthy why are so many of there people paid so little with poor living conditions and little access to affordable health care?. Here is a good indication...
