Bipolar generator (N-machine)

Hi everybody,

I have made some  tests with a generator based on the principle of the N-machine of De Palma, but the difference is about the magnet, its magentization is not axial but diametrical.



Here is the "machine":



Results show alternative current at the ouput 

Of course value of current are very low because it's a small machine, magnets are only 30mm diameter.

I have made test with aluminium axle and aluminium disc, and iron axle and coper disc. I will  test copper axle with copper disc, etc... I want to see the diffrent impact of materials  on results.

As I can see, output with the aluminium axle make less "noise" than iron, the carbon brushes will not help as there internal resistance is high (~50ohm each)

I will post results of tests when they will be done, for now it's just a starting, but I will made a protocol for every materials.

Yes of course you are getting AC. I am looking to build a homopolar generator as well - with a little change - but I am having trouble finding ferrite magnets with axial magnetization.

I don't know how to affix them to the shaft. I am looking at pot magnets, but unfortunately here in UK at least producer First4Magnets told me all are diametrically magnetized,
and this destroys the second part of the experiment for which I have to produce DC.

I want axial, like the original.
You on the other hand use diametrical magnetization, this is why ypu get AC. Your way is similar to what Lindemann and Knox did at the Borderland Research Lab - they fixed rectangular magnets on the disc showing N and S and this got AC, as the magnet passing by the brush was changing the pole - just as your diametral magnetized magnet does.

Axial is the big conundrum that generated Faraday's paradox, to which relativity and Maxwell's equations don't give a definitive answer to this day.

But I need DC for what I wsnt to do - a Back EMF generator.
