Seems, a great part in building magnetic motors takes the idea of shielding a magnetic field. Has anyone ideas how to do this in an effective way? Any testings with Mu metal?

Shielding is maybe not the right word, it's more like canceling out.
Made a picture:

Now, when A and B are magnet and C is a piece of iron, you'll see that when you place a piece of iron next to a magnet the iron is magnetized in such a way that it's attracted to the magnet. If you place piece of iron of the right thickness and the right distance to the magnets between 2 repelling magnets the forces cancel eachother out by working against eachother (they're still there). If you take a piece of metal that's to thick you can stick the two magnets on the surface and they hold, if the iron is to thin the magnets repell eachother through the metal.
So there you have it, it's a balancing act.

This is how i observed the effect, if someone else has different experiences please speak.

Hi Friends,
as first i have to introduce me: My name is Helmut and a am workin on magnetic motors several years ago.
My motor design (Stefan knows me i think, from the time as a worked on that motor).
Now a am back working an important things again ;-)) ,the last years where full of work for my company........

In my design, a needs also some sort of magnetic shielding an i tried many things.
Some shields not enough, some are uniteresting, because of size and wheight.
others (say ferromagnetic ones) are useless, because they procude mechanical force which costs energy (?)
and disturbs most designs.

I found, the best way to "eliminate" magnetic fields is not to shield them but to "compensate" them
with another magnetic field. In my motor design, is built a v-shaped Stator from pure Iron, compounded with
Epoxy. i My design, i needed a magnet with a monopole (say a magnet with only a northpole).
shure to say, that this is not possible. But, with intelligent compensation, you can produce a magnetic field that
is so deformed, that it looks like a magnet with a strong northpole and a weak southpole to an external part.
In my opinion, such a "monopole" is the "key" to a real working magnet motor.
if you are interested, we can talk more about that and the problems to design a monopole magnet - its not easy!

greetings!
Helmut

Hi Helmut,
good to see you back.
Do you still have a few pictures of your old motor that you could post over here ?

Many thanks.

Regards, Stefan.

Hi Stefan,
nice to see, that you realised a OU-Forum here!
Its a very good thing and i hope that our common
interest on OU will help to realise our dreams :-)

Last two years where full of work for my company so i
did only small works in this direction but shure, the
ideas and old sketches are unforgotten.
I will collect some drawings and post it if of interest.
I found a new way to deform the fields to make a monopole
magnet with linear field distribution as i used in my old motor design
and started measurings on this field.
Hope that this will help to run my magnet motor longer than the
few minutes it did up to now.

Any news from your side? Last thing i know is that you
are working on gas discharging tubes.
Any news about that?

greetings
helmut
