Here is what the coil is like that I have used except the block on the bottom was inside the ring!
You feel the vibration for those of you who do not believe you can feel vibration in wire purchase one of these!

Or just press the "degauss" button on the computer monitor (CRT), and listen to it twang as it cycles through the hysteresis spiral.

i've used them yes.

in transformers, the noise is called magnetostriction, and with air coils the windings can vibrate ever so slightly creating sound waves, especially at higher frequencies.

so where's the magic in this?

EMdevices talked about magnetostriction a while back. Something happened to make it stop, but the mathematics was dead on to the tpu description.

The magic is in the comparison in shape and the comparison of what is talked about vibration my friend not to mention his remarks about being a TV repair man there is justification in looking at the materials used in this coil.

Or maybe its somehow related in build...

Instance some argue weather copper or iron and gauge of wire seems to be a problem as well as other factors ....

some where in this forum is a thread called something like . * The First TPU * , i dint remember who made it but they show and talk about the first small one that didint work once it was turned upside down , there are very indepth descriptions and close up pics of it as well, if you find it im sure youll know right away about what im talking about, if i can find the link i will link it in here for you. ( there seems to be so many threads about this topic now its kinda hard to find anything really).
