clamshell is a design by sirhoax on youtube. it is one plate mounted between two wall plates facing each other. like a clam. they surround the middle plate. the two outer ones having the same charge. as for btu benchmark. no, i have not. but may. i am mostly experimenting with this for hobby use. i am gonna put one of these on my car once i get my design correct. the torch is just a ball needle inflator cut off at the end. the trick is crimping the head just right for the hole to be a good size to let the right amount of gas out. i have seen some big flames on youtube. just do a search on micro torch. or mini torch. flashback is key also..... did i mention boooooommmm. key is flashback...  cotton is good, so it steel wool. but you don't want to plug up your hose.

I cannot see what you folks are doing here. It looks as if you are using KOH or NaOH
as an electrolyte to generate hydrogen and oxygen by electrolysis. If this is so, please
remember that the resulting gas, hydroxy, is VERY DANGEROUS and that the
electrolytes, KOH and NaOH are most hazardous also.

Hydroxy burns very rapidly, and sets up shock waves which can easily shatter ear drums.
In fact, you might not hear the event because you would be rendered deaf by it.

agreed on dangerous. please see my post... where goggles... use flashback preventer..... what are we doing here? we are using feedback to refine designs on hho generators and uses for it. hey, i don't want anyone to get hurt using this stuff, but it has a good use for hobbyists as well as those looking to use it in the car. i am persuing both ends. i have tried baking soda, not happy with results. going with other chemicals now. is there a better forum for us to be at? if so, i shall go there to discuss the subject. i don't understand your post or perhaps you think we are being childish with something very dangerous... i would rather test my designs on a bench than waste time putting it in my car and finding out it doesn't work. as for my mini torch. i want to use it for making hobby stuff. yard art and feeders and fountains and stuff. i am the last to play with this stuff popping bubbles. any fool can do that.

I am trying calcium hydride which is pickling lime and it seems to be working pretty good/ CaH2 ...any thoughts?
When using lye/ NaOH it doesnt take much , when researching it seems our local water treatment utility puts that in our drinking water along with chlorine and flouride.So it can not be but so dangerous. Tap water gets dirty too fast so I always use the best distilled water possible.
If you put 115v dc current thru your cell say at 8 amps it will make steam like crazy.

There are a couple designs that seperate the hydrogen and oxygen
thru seperate hoses ...like hydranox5ooo this seems like it is better for cars,as hydrogen by itself does not boom and it still makes a good flame although almost invisible. For using hydroxy gas to run a car like Daniel Dingle...we must use the vacuum potential of the combusting  hydroxy..I think it is stronger than the explosive force.
It is possible...implosion that is.
People need to know that this hydroxy gas can be used safely.
There is no energy shortage anywhere in this world , maybe water shortage ...lol
