Hi,
I just saw a new defense system on youtube,
that seems to use some kind of secret force field:
Trophy:

Is this just a radar tracking system that fires a laser at the incoming rocket
or do they really generate a secret and new technology force-field ?

Regards, Stefan.

I doubt there's anything particularily novel about this. It's indeed just radar tracking and automatic weapon shooting down the incoming projectile. They've been using similar system in battleships to counter missiles for years already. I think it's more like a large shotgun shell being fired at high scatter, rather than laser.

Well,
but they said, it is like a spherical protection, so also
like half a marble sphere to ALL sides !
Also it is said, that the incoming missile does not explode, but just
bangs against this invisible shield somehow and breaks apart,
so the infantery soldiers around it are not too much in danger...
Hmm...
So is this trophy force field just only some vapour ware expression ??

It would be cool but we're not there yet :P
To me they do seem to explode on impact and I for one wouldn't like to be around when that happens, but nevertheless, it's far better than getting direct hit. You can place several of them around the vehicle so you'll be protected from all directions.
