Recently I performed a simple test.  I triple would a spool about 15 times with AWG21 magnet coil.  The first set is used to test a normal coil setup and the second two were setup bifilar.  Results:

Normal coil - Max I've seen by hand 1.8 mV
Bifilar coil - 9.8mv /2 (double windings) = 4.9mV
Difference = 272 %

Theres no possible way the speed was off more than 25% during both tests.  It would have been a lot more accurate  with 2 multimeters and reading at the same time though.  I'm setting up some more advanced tests within the next few months.  One of which is a dual rotor axial flux type setup that will produce several KW at about 1000RPM.  I've already got 24 fairly huge N48 magnets for the project.

By your experiment I thik about the Nicola Tesla US512340 publication and
about the Marcel Meredieu transformer FR667647 (page 2,line 27-45) .

Hello All,

I currently have a coil wound on a form about two inches long with about six lawers of #20 wire on one of my motors.  I have been told that a bifilar coil would give me better results and more magnetic power for the same current.

However I do not know how to wind a bifilar coil at this size.  Can anyone give me some drawings on how to build this coil in the bifilar form?

Thank you,    JackH         Hilden-Brand Energy

I was looking at tesla's patent for his bifilar coil a long time ago, and it's interesting to note that tesla's bifilar coil is "flat", and only works as tesla described when it is wound "flat" with no core. I built tesla's coil and put it on my scope and you should have seen the frequency hash this thing develops, it is nothing like the normal bifilar coil everyone is building. Tesla stated as well that a ferromagnetic core only dampens oscillations, If you want to see some weird shit try building tesla's coil the way his patent states it should be built.
