I don't know about compressors so I can't answer your question but

  Though it may have had a flashback, I haven't seen that
man sitting on a cloud since the 70s.

  The video that Ahura posted shows that water expands 1800
times when fractured.  Just wanted to throw "compressed air"
out there. Would make for an interesting experiment, for sure.
