Bob....not that fast my friend.  Earth is resonant cavity but TMT as you described is a HAMMER. Now, take hammer and resonant cavity and try to hit cavity with hammer....and what do you get ?  Dull sound, no more.
Giving a bit more from that precious info (the whole picture is simple but still in fog or misinformation and luck of details) : with hammer you have a special construction  with a mass on top in special shape and so on , and you have to have momentum to use it. See analogy ? Elevated capacitance, special oscillator loosely coupled secondary, extra coil to rise momentum.
This is BIG MISTAKE people make again and again....without trying to think clearly....

You should clear yourself from the thought that tuning fork in all Tesla pictures from articles describing his effords is a Tesla coil alone or TMT as you described... more later....
