I think that everything should be red, or nothing. These grey block with messages look like post-it notes.

I think you following line: "More replies may be posted, but you won't receive any more notifications until you read the topic" is not true anymore. I seem to get an notification for every reply, even when I don't read anything.

Aevogels,

If you click the link for "here" in my previous post you can see the redesign. It is still red but does not have the bright yellow component. The color is Stefan's prerogative, but I can see where black text directly on top of the wallpaper may not be readable in some areas. So perhaps a neutral gray may work better or the text on top of the wallpaper can be changed. We'll see what Stefan says. I can do another redesign if needed.

@Stefan & all

Is there somewhy the red background can be disabled or changed to something less hurtful to the eyes? For one thing, the printing of red on a b/w printer wastes a lot of ink!

Thank you. I wished there was a way to go back to the old bluish tint.

cheers

Normally backgrounds on web pages are not included in printing. In IE's print preview you should see that the background image is not included. There are browser and/or printer settings to enable or disable printing of page backgrounds. A gray or bluish background might work, but also considering the green title bars this might not be a good choice. Eventually there may be multiple styles to choose from once Stefan has available time and is able to implement them. Then you can choose the style that best suits your taste.

Stefan -
Thanks as always for the work you do and for the software/forum upgrade.

For me though, the front page is not nearly as elegant/easy to read/well organized as in the past.
I do most my reading here starting from the front page.

The 2 colums makes it disorganized looking.  Showing a quote from each thread takes up a lot of space.  The original author of the thread is not listed.  And the page numbers links of the thread that I had already read used to show up as different color (red).  Now The page numbers have no distinction so I have to guess where I last left off reading.
I see the 'forum' page is still basically the same layout.

Was cool to see the avatars back (for a day)!  And what about extended formating - like underline, italics, strikeout etc... you gonna bring them back?

The previous layout of the front page was one of the best I've seen, very organized.
Might you consider styling the front page similair to what is was before?  And least go with 1 column and don't list a quote from each thread?

Thanks a bunch!   :)

The single-column layout is much easier to read - awesome!

And glad to see the RSS feed taken down off the front page - it took up half the page!
BUT - on the front page - the recent topics in the top half of the page and the new postings on the bottom half are the same thing basically and redundant.
I would suggest removing the top half/recent topics section and then expanding the new postings sections over the whole page.
This allows more topics to be viewed from the front page.
The current design means a topic disappears from the front page quickly making it easily forgotten/loses interest.
Also - removing the quote of the last post will reduce the space each topic takes up making room for even more topics on the front page.
(I really miss the old layout!)

... also:

When making a post of significant length, the cursor in the composing box starts going crazy!  Once it gets long, the cursor keeps jumping up to the top of the box making it near impossible to continue!

And the 'hyperlinks' of the topics and page#'s at the top of a thread used to show different colors after having clicked them.  This made it easy to know what you have/haven't read.  Now - there is no 'hyperlink' color change.

And how about the expanded formating - you know italics, underline, strikeout etc?  Gonna bring that back?
And the avatars?

Thanks!  :)
