Gadget, thanks for offer, but 110.00 is too much, for that price I can get 10 pounds and same problem with shipping.

@ the original poster, if you live on planet earth there is magnetite around. it is formed from falling meteors that burn up in the atmosphere, (or to be more precise they boil to vapor and then this reacts with the oxygen in the atmosphere to quickly cool as the iron oxide we call magnetite, and as such has no ordering in crystal forms like you see in molten metal when it cools, This effect is exactly why metglas works so well but even it is not as excellent of a flash cooling process as the iron in meteors falling. This is why people are reporting that it is a better transformer material than metglas :) If you have a magnet and access to any land that has not been filled with human iron waste, you should be able to get plenty of it. Just get out and go for a walk in some woods and use the magnet. you will have to filter out any bigger chunks due to the naturally occurring iron deposits here on earth but anything really fine is sure to be a higher concentration of magnetite than you would expect :)

You can also put a strong magnet into your eavestrough (aka gutter)  downspout where the rainwater will run over it. After a year or so of rain, check the magnet, it will be coated with meteoric iron magnetite.

long time ago I ordered some samples of different grade Fe2O4 from this company here:

Its brand was at that time Minelco.

They send me 1 kg Magnadense of different size. The company is located in sweden where the mining is done from  an 800 m deep resource. See the Download-section below the the picture of Mr. Teppler ? Here you will find  the different grades of Magnadense.

The have departments in Europe. So write them where the closest depatment to croatia is and ask them for sample-material.
