It seems this circuit uses DISPLACEMENT Currents from the earth to light
up the bulbs.

We have to setup a resonance with the displacement currents inside the earth
so we pull the free electrons from the earth ground through the bulbs
via displacement current excitation in resonance.
This seems to be the trick.
ALso the spark gaps help probably to avoid Lenz law
coupling back to the input power source through their
disruptive discharge character.

Hmm this is indeed a strange circuit.
The probe is at the output and it does register a sine wave, although the osclillator is square.
This could result in some resonance phenomena....

Here is my best guess on how this circuit work.

The input (220VAC) is rectified by the diode bridge and will charge up the 220uF capacitor to a DC
voltage. The mosfet will chop this DC to a pulsed current through the transformer T1. The transformer T1
is a step up transformer to give out approx. 3000 volt. (Based on the distance of the spark gap in the images.) The output of T1 will charge the 0,05uF high voltage capacitor on each pulse of the output from the T1 transformer. The R1 is a current limiter so that the load will not overload the T1 transformer. Now, at each pulse the voltage will be high enough so that the spark gap fires. This will put the C1 capacitor in parallel to the primary of the T2 transformer. This works the same way as a Tesla transformer. At T2 there is also a small winding 2B. I believe this winding is there for powering the electronic inside the mosfet driver box above. At the output of T2 there is a drossel DPI and a capacitor. I believe that those two components is used to make a LC filter so that the impedance between the T2
and T3 transformer is right. This will give us a resonant circuit. I also believe the IB coil is a small coil to get a signal to the mosfet driver box. T3 is a step down transformer so that the output is down to 220VAC again. This is done so that the circuit can power lamps. I further guess that the mosfet driver box is constructed so that the circuit has a positive feedback, just like in a normal inverter power supply. This feedback will ensure that the input switching is regulated up as the load increase.

I must add that this is my best GUESS of the circuit operation.
