I think the radiation detector is designed for outside environment.By putting the detector near coil within 30cm likely the magnetic flux interferes with the detector's circuitry.
There should be no cause for concern as we all know harmful radiation spread out further than that.


However this radiation from coil video reminded me of old articles which i had read years ago which which used radium(A Green glowing substance which was used in the past to paint on old watch dial) to boost power from coil.

This is just a example which i have extracted.

Tesla found that the impulse tech. worked best with arc discharge lamps.  Now the Arc Discharge Lamp takes all the current out of the DC energy going thru it.  That might be the best way to get radiant energy to flow through the secondary coil.  Here is a link to a video on Arc Discharge Lamps.  Its fairly short and interesting..
