I could not understand the results I was getting because I did not realize the aluminium case was earth and connected to all three caps with three phase terminals out.

Seems we are back to square two.

What could happen if we have a capacitor within a capacitor? The surrounding capacitor is charged, it is the Earth's electric field, negative plate is the ground, positive plate is the Sun. Within this capacitor there is a second capacitor. It is the capacitor of our electric circuit. Question: Shouldn't this capacitor within a capacitor have the same basic charge like the surrounding capacitor? If so, then this is all about to a) get this charge out of the second capacitor in order to do useful work with it and b) to make room in that second capacitor for a new charge to flow in.

Maybe it is square three we are back to. Because of the three plates of that capacitor.

@Hi Zeit, yes I am back to a few years ago but now I understand a little more. Stopped playing with large cap because got it to charge after 4 seconds then it would let go with such force 500 watts of bulbs would not just blow but all the glass would explode on all bulbs and explosion incredible. Will play again with big 3 phase cap to earth this weekend.

@jbignes, great post.  Your explanation of 3 phase cap now means I can go back to an experiment I was doing 4 years ago, I could not understand the results I was getting because I did not realize the aluminium case was earth and connected to all three caps with three phase terminals out. Thinking back when I put the cap on to a perspex sheet, isolating it from ground, (damp Tarmac in shed) then strange things happened. Would you know what the two pipes coming off the aluminium box are for ? oil or water cooling may be and as empty at the moment does this alter the cap value or performance. Physical size 400mm x200mmx150mm with three 12mm threads for terminals coming out of top so quite big.

My choice on the other hand would be to make a custom cap because most manufactured caps can not take the forces that these methods force a cap to manifest. My work with the captret had one big drawback, they pushed or poped the end due to gassing and a real force that pushed the plates longitudinally(the long direction). The problem can naturally be fixed by using oil filled caps which do not exhibit the gassing downfall. Only electrolytic caps did this. Since our experiments were very small we opted to use the electrolytic caps.
The other problem of the plates pushing the ends of the cap can be fixed by using a better designed case.


But Since bifilar coils seem to be very high on capacitance I am working twords a new way to use them to be a delayed capacitance type of storage. This new type of capacitor will only be good for oscillators and will only delay or charge up for a fraction of a second and then discharge. I am still working on this idea and concept. My experiments so far have been encouraging. Adding a case ground might allow us to infuse the charge with more energy through the captret method. But I have not gotten that far yet.


As for the box you mentioned? Did you mean the Russian 3 phase cap?

Sorry but it is hard for me to concentrate today. Just had my MRI done on my spine. Hurting pretty bad...
