I cannot take the attached schematic for granted, because I do not understand how it works. 
In other words, I do not understand the Modus Operandi that we should be aiming for.

Then maybe you should take a look at page 5 and 6 of this thread then the Modus Operandi becomes much more clearer. That Modus -as it seems- is to drive the forums in full circles.

MO becomes clearer in a sense that we see how it does NOT work. Not on page 6 and not on page 1331.

Besides, forget that stupid spark gap. There is not the slightest evidence that a spark ever can produce excess energy. In fact it wastes energy due to radiation.
