Is it not possible that the electrons are actually coming from the wire?

Then of course they could be replaced by the soil or the air/ether, but perhaps they do not need to come from anywhere but the wire.
This would mean the wire would lose electrons and I suppose the way you could test for this would be to check the charge on the wire after it has been used... and during its use...

I also suppose there would need to be many more tests than these, but I think this needs to be considered.

The oscilaltor of this kind, require a terminal going to ground and another terminal, (if passed via a load) to go to a capacity. How much capacity have your ultra caps using only the one lead??

Actually, Tesla pondered on this. See Colorado Springs notes in July 16, 1899. He considered the toploads, bothersome and of little storage.
Tesla proposed some methods, for increasing the single wire capacitance. He considered ideal for the purpose to use the Biffilar Coil as large capaciotance in top of the secondary coil!

I have not the slightest experience with biffilar coils. Can they behave as large single terminal capacitors??

State the publication that indeed Tesla said that in reletion to liquidification of gases.

(I know a theoretical study of someone from MIT that maintains the biffilar Tesla coil is similar to Linde liquification system, but IMO has nothing to do with it)

IMHO natural electricity is massless ,when we convert it into staccato of impulses via electrons high frequency energy is converted. 
May I ask how Tesla coil behaves when powered by the same voltage source but higher amps ? The same device I mean : what would happen if you put a bigger amperage into working TC primary ? Does it influence secondary voltage or current ?
Maybe it's so simple that almost embarrassing ? For example : only a TC coil sparking into receiver coil/transformer  via spark gap ... Of course not such dumb TC as shown on youtube but carefully matched to have equal mass primary to secondary and 1/4 wavelength. Zero current at ground connection and max voltage at elevate capacitance. For me it will work like a "vacuum cleaner"
