On this you are 100% correct, but you are fighting a losing battle. 
Exactly what is stopping people from reading Tesla's lecture before the American Institute of Electrical Engineers at Columbia Collage NY on May 20 1891 entitled 'Experiments with Alternate Currents of Very High Frequency and their Application to Methods of Artificial Illumination' is beyond comprehension. Maybe they just don't know about it. In this lecture you will see clearly where Vassilatos came up with his science fiction idea.

The function of the Lecher arrangement (that would be Hairpin or Tesla stout copper bars for the Vassilatos people) is no mystery. Hertz was the originator (experimentally) then Lecher and a few others. This was a well know circuit in Tesla's time. The circuit is well described mathematically and experimentally in many books written in the early 1900's.

'The principles of electric wave telegraphy and telephony' written by a brilliant man Sir John Ambrose Fleming.

Chapter 3 'Dampening and Resonance' and Chapters 4,5,6 'Stationary electric waves on wires and coils' is an excellent read.

Very cool find Core. It seems to contain almost everything one might need.  I downloaded A bunch from the 1830s to 1900s  But my laptop is not operational at this time, workin on it.  Ive read somewhere that libraries are replacing the old books with new books, to actually cover up some of the stuff THEY dont want us to know. This Google book thing is a sweet deal and hopefully non of it is modified. 

Hey, have you tried a smaller value cap in your charge circuit?  I also found that with a lower inductance, there was more voltage in the cap than a large inductor, but at an expense of more current from the supply. As the inductance is lowered, the switch on time should be shorter. No sense using power beyond what it takes to do the job. ;]
