First, let me say that you have my condolences on your loss.  There are no words to make that any better.  I lost my Dad 3 years ago and it is tough, very tough.

I have not been able to help here as I am not a moderator on this topic.  The only ability I have at this point is to lock it as I started it, which I will not do.  I will be asking Stefan for moderator privileges on this topic as well and we can see if that helps.  Anyone who knows me from the other like 40 topics I am moderator on knows I do not put up with crap.  That is not what this site is supposed to be about.

Even though, of course, there is crap on this topic, there is still also, a lot of very good information from the real experimenters.  A lot of very good information has been shared and should be preserved and, it should be allowed to continue in my opinion.

As I said, I will be making a request to Stefan to address this very subject.

Once again, I am deeply sorry for the loss of your Mom.  May God be with you and your family in this time.

Hey Watts. Sorry to hear.    And maybe his post may have been off considering. I mean that in a nice way. ;]

Herg   Im hearing ya.     Question, can a diode be used to make the spark unidirectional?
Or do we need magnetic quench gap, Rotary?  Was just wondering, lets say the coil being discharged into being of higher inductance, the diode may not see much current. And is there a minimal voltage needed to get it rolling?  Enough for a spark?  ;]
