Well, you'd have to ask him specifically, but I saw TV coverage of the Watts Riots as they happened in the early 60's in that suburb of LA (Los Angeles).  The National Guard was finally called out, as I recall.  This was 45-50 yrs ago, though.

Also, there's a whole lot of crime in LA today.  I live in a slum in San Francisco, and that's bad enough by itself.  Illegal guns fired off about every other night.  Probably worse in LA.

'LA' is also the abbreviation for Louisiana.  As you can see, there can be more than one explanation.
