I found something else worth consideration for anyone who wants to experiment with coax HV windings where the braid carries the HV.
In the pictures from TK's latest device, it can be measured that the actual winding that is wound on the coil is thicker than the coax cable.
That leaves 2 possibilities:
1) The coax cable has been further isolated with a protection hose
to prevent arc-over between the closely located braids of adjacent turns (makes sense)
2) It's a different cable altogether

In the green box coil the coax cable turns are spaced apart for isolation.

Is it copper tubing, maybe when it is vaccumed out, there is more current, just a guess...

Hmm, if it was copper tubing then adjacent "turns" would touch each other and enable conduction transversely across the coil (shorting).
I had an isolator in mind, but what can't be seen due to being covered by tape, can only be speculated on.

It got few functions:
1) protection from poisonous gases after O2->O3 reactions
2) sound resistant chamber
3) ultraviolet filtering
4) on 25kV+ you need to encase it in X-Rays resistant chamber.

Regarding the spark gap,  I have found this company pdf, see model SG25.0, as I think this may be the close match to the one in the video.
