How do you propose to increase the amplitude of the oscillations in L2 after SW1 is opened?
Especially how to ensure that the envelope of the oscillations is trumpet shaped?

Conventional LC oscillators (or reflected traveling-wave oscillators), that are pumped by a constant voltage stimulus, have an asymptotic wine-glass shaped envelope of the oscillations (as LtBolo has rightly noticed)

this circuit will not work. The emitter is fnot connected either to ground or neg. terminal of batteries, so the base-to-emitter line will noch open. I really wonder about Romeros words :

Answer:
"S1 and S2 can be implemented as spark-gaps in the first approximation (STAAR device) and the harvesting point can be S or even T, with G grounded".
It is basically an approximation of the STAAR device, with reference to the Kapanadze 200 W generator.
There is no constant voltage stimulus.
"S1 initiates the oscillations in L2 with a short HV pulse or a burst of pulses applied to L1". (as, for instance, created by the spark-gap)

That scheme is very interesting.
So the bifi coils must have some level of input in order to start the process.

Like if it takes 2000v on the pulse coil  to get the bifi to a level that it WILL build on its own, I suppose thats a good thing. Or if you build one, it would just begin to build from any stimulation and meltdown.   

Tesla did say that the higher the voltage, input to a bifi, the greater the effect. The effect.  ;]   I just never imagined it to be used open ended. Sweet molasses.

What are your thoughts on the Rodin coil.  It's strengths and weaknesses, use's?



How can we build a exact opposite of a Rodin coil (not a Starship coil).   

@ Bigs     then a Rodin will make a very good antenna?   Why?   and how can we use this to make gains?
Can it be used to pickup the power of a close generator, is it directional?
