seems he uses this unit also in this video of him:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHvh4oAy2Hw

There you can see the back side of it and he mention "corona" when pointing to this unit, so i guess it's some kind of ignition unit for a natural gas burner or so.

These kinds of units also were used earlier in one of TK his designs if i remember correctly.

Perhaps someone with knowledge of the Russian language can pull some more info from the video.

In the video there is nothing mentioned about that black box.
This is another version of unit. Seems less elements than in the first one.

For sure one hV cable goes to the coil with a free end, another HV cable goes to aluminium foil (open capacitor), 2 cables are going to feedback coil (Bunk comment) with 2 turns.
